Despite observations that we are currently experiencing the ‘death of TV’, television shows no sign of giving up the ghost to newer media. The ubiquitous presence of TV—in our living rooms, bedrooms, and even kitchens—demands critical attention. This class will use a variety of approaches to assess the material, rhetorical, and cultural impact of a medium that many people seem eager to dismiss. But is it? Why do people continue to tune in? How has television adapted to the new media environment? What does the future of TV look like? This blog will consider all these questions and more.

True Blood Season Three Thus Far...

The first episode of Season 3 was last Sunday and set up a whole lot of story lines for our favorite Bon Temps characters, and the second episode did not disappoint in following through. So if you have missed the first episode here is your chance to catch up now;

SEASON THREE EPISODE 1, RECAP:
Sookie Stackhouse: Her story picks up in the French restaurant where Bill proposed. While she was in the bathroom thinking over her answer Bill was abducted and taken away before she could give him a response. Thus begins the quest for the missing fiance. Nobody is too keen on helping her either because nobody really believes he was kidnapped. Sookie turns to Eric for help. Eventually, she finds Bill's car flipped over on the road, with some strange dead guy in the car with a weird brand on his next. With the help of a smart phone ( I mean really, how can a phone figure out what that symbol means???? She had no idea?!) the symbol is identified as "Operation Werewolf." Guess we got some new super naturals moving in

Bill Compton: Bill is kidnapped by a bunch of crazed men who literally are trying to drain him while driving... (Drinking and driving never is good...) These guys that took him are so high on his vampire blood they crash the car and Bill is able to escape and bury himself (because he can't be in the sun... remember...) until the next day. After making an extremely creepy exit from the ground Bill runs to a random house in the woods and feeds on a little old lady, but makes sure to glamour her so she forgets the experience ever happened. Once back in the woods, on the move to get back to presumably Sookie, he is circled by wolves.

Eric Northman: Our favorite vampire sheriff finally shows some hot ass for the camera... He is in the middle of having a bondage sex session with Yvetta, his new dancer at Fangtasia when Sookie comes in all hot and bothered about Bill. The camera pans back and we see Yvetta is tied up, and some cute Swedish ass approaching Sookie. Eric promises Sookie he did not take Bill, and is duty bound to find him as Sheriff of Area 5. Yah, but did I mention we finally get to see his ass....

Jason- Shot Eggs and is running through the woods back to his house where he immediately chugs a beer and throws it into the wall. Andy Bellefleur covers for him and takes the heat for killing Eggs, and tells Jason to act normal and start fucking girls again. Jason meets two girls studying to be veterinarian psychologists and tries to have a threesome with them but cannot "rise to the occasion," because he sees bullet holes in their foreheads... romantic... eh

Sam: On a serious mission to re-unite with his biological family. While in a hotel he has an erotic dream about Bill Compton (an after effect of the blood), but was rudely awakened by a phone. He finds his maybe brother and stalks him in a large old royal blue bronco... ya, not obvious.

Tara: Finds out Eggs was shot and cries over his dead body. Tries to beat up Sookie, and then tries to kill herself. Same shit, different day.

Lafayette: Gets a visitor from Eric's minion Pam, threatening him to get rid of all the vampire blood they have supplied him with to deal. He also ends up trying to save Tara who tries to kill herself.

Jessica: We left her in the season two finale at a truck stop feeding on a trucker right after her and Hoyt ended things. In the season three opener she was dragging the same nearly dead truck driver into Bills home. She tries to save him but fails miserably and ends up keeping him under the house to rot until she can figure out how to dispose of him...
