I'm usually not a fan of shows that involve weddings, dresses, the combination of the two, babies, or anything that has to do with being a mom. BUT when I saw a commercial for Jersey Couture and the mom was this amazing Jersey mother with a loud voice and an obsession with boobies and booties I couldn't resist catching the first episode.
Jersey Couture is surrounding the going ons of a family owned and operated dress shop in New Jersey. The dresses and the clients aren't even the best part of the show. The relationships between the family isn't even the best part of the show. The best part of the show, bar none, has got to be Diane singing the booty poppin song when she talks about any dress... including the dress for her 12 month old granddaughter.
The characters are obviously what makes the show my guilty pleasure. Try to find one you couldn't laugh uncontrollably at.
Diane: She's the strong willed mother and owner of the dress boutique. She is big on family, very protective of her children and obviously very involved in their lives. She's a self proclaimed Boobologist and has absolutely no reservations about shoving her hands down a clients' top and adjusting their boobs.
Kimberly: She's the oldest child and definitely acts like it. She is married and has a daughter that is a year old. She is very similar to her mother in that she is not afraid to speak her mind about any thing and every thing... including her sisters love life.
Chrissy: She's the middle child and is the revolutionary one of the bunch. She's perpetually single because her family doesn't ever approve of the men she brings around. Since she recently moved out, her family lacks the intricate details of her love life and they are trying their hardest to weasel their way back in.
Anthony: He's the youngest of the children and is a DJ on the side of his duties at the store. He mostly sits around and makes fun of the family, but he will do anything in his power to help them out.
Sal: He's the father of the family and he just kinda follows what every Diane tells him to do. He's usually the one that deals with the customers when they aren't directly picking out their dresses. He's very protective of his family, but not as loud as Diane.
The Scali Family is the most entertaining part of the show. Sure there are other aspects of the show, like making someone happy with their dress and the dresses themselves... but that's the most boring thing in the world. A little dysfunctional family togetherness is what I'm talking about!
I saw part of this show and for the first few minutes I was under the impression it was Jerseylicious because both shows feature the stereotypical jersey-esque characters.
ReplyDeleteSeems like quite a few channels are cashing in on the current Jersey fad, Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jerseylicious, Jersey Couture, Jersey Shore...
